if this happens, i for one will be speaking up and asking who is accountable for all the lives lost due to the wt's death dealing policy.
this is an opportunity for all those who still have some connections with jws to make people think..
I agree, JWoods. Almost no way they can make it a conscience matter. All they can do is lessen the impact of the sin on the punishment end. They can make it a non-DF offense, perhaps, but they can't ever come out and say taking blood is not a sin.
Another possible new light is allowing Dubs to take one's own previously stored blood but even that is a pretty huge step that is unlikely.
"Intellectual" is a fairly subjective adjective. I like the logic of a lot of Terry's stuff. There isn't a Jeff here who doesn't post intelligently. Blondie is brilliant (she's way more than just a data miner; there are some great insights there). It's hard to name everyone and even harder to select a "most intellectual" poster.

I don't think they'll make it a conscience matter.
What I expect is that they will keep it a sin but will soften the punishment so that one is rarely, if ever, DFd for it anymore. It will become one of those "loose conduct" versus "fornication" things.
Also, I don't expect a WT study devoted to it. It will either be a couple paragraphs at most in a mag, a KM article, or even something as simple as a GB letter to the elders.
i'm not but i know some jws that have drifted but when things like 9/11 catastrophes occur, they're right back at the kingdom hall.. do you ever worry that the great tribulation might occur and you will die?.
Read a book like Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" and you'll be more afraid of surviving an Armageddon like scenario than being killed in one.
it's true...from the platform during the service meeting he informed the congregation of how there apostate sites that you can find just by looking for jehovah's witnesses on your search bar.

re: emails
Try hushmail.com for secure and private email. And definitely be careful. Better to send one at a time than a mass email, even with BCC on, IMO. I just don't completely trust BCC.
it's been about going on 2yrs that i've been df'd and not even 1yr that i stopped going to the khall at all...but...i'm proud to say that as of last night i was going through my phone and decided that i needed to just cut out all those people that didn't matter anymore!
you know, the old jw 'friends' (use that term loosely) whose numbers i've held onto all this time and don't need anymore.

It would be kind of funny to see the look on the elders faces if somebody tried this, though. I mean, give the complete opposite account of what he gave the previous committee. Deny any of the negative statements were made and imply that he has absolutely no idea why the original JC would say such things about him. They'd be at a total loss if you were a good enough actor.

What bugs me is when one Dub thinks it's appropriate to pray for everyone at the table out at a restaurant. What kind of tool presumes to be the mediator between my family and God? And talk about drawing attention to himself!
Praying before a candy bar? Well, those Snickers ARE pretty good stuff.
i've noticed an interesting dichotomy in these discussions.
as a starting point, i understand that we are all different --- there is no "we" here except that we have all been, or been involved with, jw's.
but this is interesting..... some people complain about being "hounded" by elders and shepherding calls and previous "friends" and so on.
I think initially people would like to be proved wrong, that people sincerely care. But they find that except for the canned "encouragement" all real, caring contact drops off and disappears.
And the "encouragement" is so predictable. It is never "We miss you. Why don't you come out to dinner and bowling on Friday." It is always "We miss you at the meetings. Have you spoken with the elders about whatever's wrong?"
I can't wait for the "drops off and disappears" part.

While JWs use hyperbole constantly when referring to the evils of "Satan's world" they can't accept when it's used against them; they can't even see it for what it is.
whatever your chosen strategy for leaving jws, the fundamental truth is that there is no clean / simple exit.
the mind control, the manipulation of normal family relationships etc will make any strategy very difficult at times.
the key issue is to know this ahead of time and be prepared, as best you can.. we've all chosen leaving strategies acording to our personal circumstances, preferences and learning from others.
It can be a lot of work especially if you have friends or family that are anxious about what you are doing and upset that your activity is slowing or stopped completely.
Absolutely the hardest part for me, especially at the beginning.
As for the view that fading is lying, so what? This cult promotes the principle that reprehensible people aren't worthy of the truth and the fade-lie turns that principle right on to them. I feel no moral compunction to be honest with the freaking borg.
You become impotent and are reduced to creating hilarious fake Facebook profiles so that you can act out your passive aggression towards the Witnesses on Facebook (how many pages did that thread run to?) while real ex-JWs are going from door-to-door, toe-to-toe with the JWs handing out 'apostate' leaflets to householders. Only one of these actions has any real impact or effect; guess which one it is.
I don't have to guess. Full frontal apostasy has just about NO positive impact on still "in" Dubs (quite the opposite at times, because it reinforces what they've been told by the borg). Subtle (call it passive aggressive if you like) means of raising doubts in some minds DOES have impact on Dubs. Your aggressive anti-Dub campaigning may help householders avoid becoming Dubs, which is a worthy cause, but for faders it is those who are still trapped by the cult who are our concern.
Can't we respect that both faders and ex's are working to help two different sets of people in two very different ways? Going full-blown apostate abandons people we've got relationships with. Fading gives them a chance.
